What Is Clutter Blindness?
Over time we stop seeing the excess stuff in our space. You get so used to seeing it that you no longer notice it.
You may have brought something new into your home, put it down somewhere just for now and it stays in that same place for weeks, months or years.
You may have items that you used for a short while in a space but have stopped using. The item stays in the space and over time you stop noticing that it is there.
You may have a pile of items waiting to be mended (small sewing tasks, items to be fixed). They have been sitting in the same place for a long time. You forget that they are there and waiting to be mended.
How Can You Stop Clutter Blindness?
Photos: I often recommend to my clients to step into a space in their home and take photos with their phone. Taking photos of each space can also help you to see more clearly areas that need attention.
Start Decluttering: Decluttering a space allows you to audit what you have, assess what you need/no longer use and to see a space with fresh opportunities.
Are there areas in your home where you no longer notice the clutter?
