THE HUB OF THE HOME – THE KITCHEN
Today is day three of National Organising Week and the perfect time to focus on the hub of your home – the kitchen.
This is such a busy space used for ac variety of activities (cooking, working, homework, entertaining etc). It needs to be well organised and functional. When working with my clients there are often specific things that create clutter.

SECRETS TO A CLUTTER FREE KITCHEN
Hardest Working Room In Your Home
If there was an award for the hardest working room in your home, the kitchen would probably be the clear winner. The kitchen is a busy active space where we cook and socialise You may also use this space when working from home or supervising school homework.
A clean and clutter free kitchen is top of the list for many of my clients but with busy worktops and cupboards it can feel overwhelming to know where to start. I always start with decluttering inside the cupboards to then create a clutter free worktop.
Storage
A place for everything and everything in its place. This is so true for the kitchen. The items that you need to access most frequently should be stored in the most accessible cupboards and those items used occasionally in less accessible cupboards.
Stockpiling & Duplicates
Don’t stockpile and don’t have duplicates of lots of items. You can easily use up valuable storage space by keeping too many of the same items.
Baskets
Use baskets in cupboards to store like items together. It’s important to see your stock levels for weekly food orders and to avoid stockpiling. i.e. pastas/rice; spices, baking equipment, pantry items etc.
Decorative Items
Decide how many plates/decorative items you need to keep. If you haven’t used it for over a year, consider if you need to keep it. If there is anything stored in your kitchen that you do not use, consider if you really need to keep it or if it is being stored in the correct place.
Lets keep organising!
